Videos

We have been preparing a series of videos to demonstrate a few basic techniques in pottery making. These have been developed as reference materials for students in our classes, and we hope they may also be of interest to others starting out in pottery, and to anyone else who wants to learn a bit more about what goes into making something out of clay.

Wedging clay is a fundamental pottery making technique used to prepare the clay for working. This video explains the process.

This video covers two of the fundamental techniques for making pottery on the potter’s wheel, centering the clay on the wheel head and making a cylinder. The process is demonstrated as a series of discrete steps, with explanations of why each step is important.

We will be adding more videos in the future on a variety of techniques.
